Strange History

It is believed that Alexander the Great was paralyzed for the last six days of his life. Being fully conscious but unable to communicate this must have been truly terrifying. Due to his documented symptoms, it is believed that he succumbed to Guillain-Barre Syndrome, which left him unable to move, and his breathing would have been so shallow that doctors at the time would have pronounced him dead prematurely.
Strange Nature

The hammerhead fruit bat is one of three African fruit bats thought to carry the Ebola virus. They are asymptomatic, so the virus continues from generation to generation.

Mr. Baur first had the idea to be buried in one of the cans he invented in the 1980s. His children first thought he was joking, but years later, he made it apparent that he was serious. So when he passed away in 2008, they honored his wishes and buried his ashes in an ‘original flavor’ Pringles can.

The Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan in Yamanashi, Japan, is in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the oldest, constantly owned hotel in the world. It has been ran by the same family the entire time as well.

Have you ever wondered why we toast with wine? The origins go back much further than the Romans. Back to around 600 BC in Georgia(the country). The practice had practical implications for drinking sour wine. Now it’s a custom.
How to add carats to a ring

If you search online, you will find many stories on lost rings. This one is one of my favorites. This image is inaccurate (I’m too lazy to fix it). Mary Gram’s daughter-in-law found the ring. Her son and his wife live in the house where she lost the ring. One evening, her daughter-in-law found the ring when she visited the same garden plot for some carrots to make a stew.
