Cat Water Fountains

After Stumbling down the hallway, with the cats water bowl freshly topped off with water dripping all along the way, I decided to try something different. I changed my wet socks and started googling different types of water bowls. Cat water fountains kept coming up in all my searches. So I checked Amazon just out of curiosity.

While searching Amazon I found a ton of results. My first thought was to laugh. Why would anyone buy these? I slowly started changing my mind the more I read. They filter the water and only need refilling a couple times a week. That sold me on the idea but I didn’t want to break the bank for another gadget that would end up in the closet next week.

That’s when I came across this one from wonder creature. It was cheap so I wasn’t expecting much. But I have to say, our cats love it. They will literally sit next to it just staring at the water. They actually drink more water now than they did before. Cats prefer running water. It makes sense, you wouldn’t want to drink stagnant water in the wild, you go to a running creek to drink. Turns out a cat water fountain is exactly what I needed.

What I like about it

This fountain has a blue LED light that turns red when the water gets too low. So not only does it make a great night light for your furry friends, it also lets you know when it needs topped off. The filters are suggested to be changed every 2 weeks, but we only change ours about once a month.

Not just for cats

This fountain isn’t just for cats of course. It would work great for smaller dogs, or even beavers, although you may need to change the filter more frequently. You can also remove the flower and stem and the water will just bubble up. That would probably be a better setup for dogs. We tried it both ways and our cats preferred the flower.

They are quiet

Noise is something else I was worried about. It wasn’t a problem though, you can’t even hear the pump running. All I can hear even in the dead of night is the water flowing. It is extremely quiet. The blue silicon mat also comes with the fountain as a splash guard. It may come in handy if you have dogs. It really isn’t needed with cats. But it looks nice.

I spent $27 on mine, but it is on sale at the time of this writing for $22.94. We have had ours for about 2 months now and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve only changed the filters once and we top it off maybe twice a week. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to a regular water bowl again. So do your pets a favor and give them some running water. They will thank you for it.
