Need some ideas on what to watch on Netflix? Check out this list of shows and movies. I will update this list regularly, so check back often for new recommendations.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
This movie came out in 2018 but didn’t get the attention it deserves. If you like quirky movies, you may like this one. It is a series of 6 short stories based on the old west. It is beautifully shot and choreographed. I recommend watching for at least a few minutes; you will get sucked in.
Blockbuster
Blockbuster came out on November 3rd. It follows the employees of the last remaining Blockbuster store. The show stars Randall Park and Melissa Fumero, to name a few. I had high hopes for this show. I loved Melissa in Brooklyn nine-nine, but I lose interest quickly every time I give this show a chance. The writing could be better. I’m sorry, but I think this one is a bust.
Wednesday Addams
Jenna Ortega does a fantastic job in this new series as Wednesday Addams. Directed by Tim Burton and scored by Danny Elfman. You will never look at the Addams family the same way again.
That ’90s Show
I have to be honest; after “That ’80s Show” flopped so hard, I wasn’t expecting much. But this show is pretty damn good. Maybe it’s the nostalgia that hooked me. But the new group of kids are good actors, and Red and Kitty are just as great as they were in the original show. The cameos from the old crew are sprinkled in just enough to make me smile. The writing is the part I was worried about, but it’s pretty good. I have probably laughed at this show more than I did the original one. If you enjoyed “That ’70s Show,” I think you will enjoy this show just as much.
Earthstorm
Earthstorm is a docuseries about storm chasers, survivors, and first responders’ harrowing experiences with volcanoes, tornadoes, hurricanes, & earthquakes. They tell their stories about how they got too close to mother nature when she’s angry. The series dropped on October 27th.
Is That Black Enough For You?
This documentary explores black history in the cinema and mainly focuses on the 70s when black entertainers first started to gain ground in America. There are interviews from many of the significant players that broke the doors down and put black Americans on our television screens in a meaningful way for the first time. “Is That Black Enough For You” dropped on Netflix on November 11th.
Netflix Ain’t Dead
Disney has just passed Netflix in subscribers recently. They have a ton of good content. But Netflix isn’t going down without a fight. There are a ton of new shows and movies still coming to Netflix. Do you have a favorite coming up that I should check out? Let me know by leaving a comment below.
