If you are like me and grew up on a steady diet of Nintendo games, you are undoubtedly excited about the Super Mario Bros. movie or at least curious. Taking such iconic figures and letting them be voiced by someone else can be unnerving. But Ben Schwartz was able to pull it off with Sonic the Hedgehog, so this may be alright. I love Chris Pratt in “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Parks and Rec,” so I’m willing to give him a chance too.

This movie has many of my favorite actors voicing the characters, so I am excited to see the result—the movie premiers on April 5th, 2023, in theaters. It will hit Peacock 45 days later and come to Netflix later in the year.
I couldn’t find much on the movie’s premise, but I’ll guess. The Princess gets kidnapped by Bowser or Donkey Kong, and Mario and Luigi have to rescue her. Hopefully, I’m wrong, though. That storyline needs to be updated. It would be nice if they added a little splash to the story.
Nintendo has expressed interest in making many more animated films based on their characters in the coming years. Look out, Marvel, this might be the Nintendo decade.
These are the leading voice actors; you may recognize a few names. Charles Martinet, who voiced many of the original characters in the game, including Mario and Luigi, will make a few cameos throughout the movie.
