I post daily quotes on social media. Facebook is my largest audience, with about 1600 followers. I hope to look back and laugh at that number this time next year. Yesterday I posted a Bob Marley quote that I thought was cool. My followers did not. I may not have enough followers to gauge my intuition, but I will address it anyway.

Schedule
Quotes are scheduled to post at 7am CST every day. I typically get 250 to 400 likes on my daily quotes by the end of the day. After 24 hours, Bob has 17 likes. This made me curious, why all the hate? I’m starting to see a trend. The same happened when I posted quotes from Nelson Mandela and Maya Angelou. It could be the colors I use in the background that they don’t like. I don’t know, but we will find out this weekend.
I have Abraham Lincoln and probably Aristotle going up this weekend; then Monday, I’ll be dropping an MLK quote. That should give me a good indication. I made sure to add only a little color to those. All three will look like the image on the right below. I’ll update this post on Tuesday with the findings.

You know where this is going
Are my followers racist? This is Facebook I’m talking about, and the demographics show an older audience. When I post quotes from women, I get a similar response, so maybe it’s just because I have old white men following me. They only respond to old white men’s quotes, lol.
I am very slowly getting women to follow my page. I’ve been trying to get my demographics younger and more feminine for a while. Why? Because they aren’t as hateful. And they are more willing to share my content. When older white men share my posts, they are seen by maybe two people. They don’t have many friends. Perhaps that’s why they are so mean. Yeah, I sound like I’m hating on older white people. The irony isn’t lost on me. But I am one, so I can?
Let’s test it
Either way, I’m determined to find out what’s going on. It could be that I have an audience that likes older things. Maybe Bob, Maya, and Nelson aren’t old enough figures to interest them. I didn’t think we were that backward thinking as a society. I’m optimistic that we aren’t. But my mind does wander towards racism when I see the quotes from prominent black people get shunned.
If any of my followers are indeed racist, they aren’t going to like my content for a while, lol. My experiment may help the trash take itself out. As I said, this post will be updated in a few days, so you should check back soon.
Update
So It’s been five days since I initially made this post. I thought I would drop the images here with the like and share counts for you to judge. I can spew nonsense about this subject, but pictures tell the story better. Pay close attention to the reactions at the bottom.

Update 2
It has been about a month since I made the last update, and something else happened that gave me a clue as to what was going on. I posted another Abraham Lincoln quote, and someone commented that he was a traitor. This was the first time I had heard that. After some searching around on Google, I discovered quite a few threads of people making comments on other websites calling him a traitor for starting the Civil War without the permission of congress.
This seems to be a recurring theme for the southern-minded racists. So yeah, I’m confident now that I have a lot of these guys on my Facebook page. Oh well, I’ll keep hiding the hateful comments and go about my day. I have no intention of giving these idiots a platform to spew their hate. So if one of you assholes happened to figure out how to venture past Facebook and find this page, please fuck off. We don’t care what you think. I would post that there, but I don’t feel like going through the comments. This isn’t a conversation I want to have, just a notification that no one is listening.
I added a subscription form at the bottom of the site if you are on a phone. Be sure to subscribe if you want to be notified when I post on this site. It isn’t often, but it will be entertaining.
