What to watch

Need some ideas on what to watch on Netflix? Check out this list of shows and movies. I will change this list up from time to time so check back often for new recommendations.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This movie came out in 2018 but I think it didn’t get the attention it deserves. If you like quirky movies, you may like this one. It is a series of 6 short stories based on the old west. It is beautifully shot and choregraphed. I definitely recommend watching for at least a few minutes, you will get sucked in.

Rating: 2 out of 5.

Blockbuster came out on November 3rd. It follows the employees of the last remaining Blockbuster store. The show stars Randall Park and Melissa Fumero to name a few. I had high hopes for this show. I loved Melissa in Brooklyn nine-nine, but every time I give this show a chance, I lose interest quickly. The writing is just not that great. I’m sorry but I think this one is a bust.

Wednesday Addams

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Jenna Ortega does an amazing job in this new series as Wednesday Addams. Directed by Tim Burton and scored by Danny Elfman. You will never look at the Addams family the same way again.

Iliza Shlesinger: Hot Forever

Rating: 2 out of 5.

Who doesn’t love this blonde bombshell funny lady? Iliza’s newest standup special is dropped on Netflix on October 11th. This is her 6th special on Netflix. She may be running out of steam with this special. I just didn’t find this standup very funny. They can’t all be great I guess. I will still watch her future shows.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Earthstorm is a docuseries about storm chasers, survivors, and first responders harrowing experiences with volcanoes, tornadoes, hurricanes, & earthquakes. They tell their stories about how they got too close to mother nature when she’s angry. The series dropped on October 27th.

Is That Black Enough For You?

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This is a documentary exploring black history in the cinema. Focusing mostly on the 70’s when black entertainers first started to really gain ground in America. There are interviews from many of the major players that broke the doors down, and put black Americans on our television screens in a meaningful way for the first time. “Is That Black Enough For You” dropped on Netflix November 11th.
