Art Is Fun Even If You Suck At It
Let's Play With The Clay All Day
I'm not sure what triggered my new fascination with wanting to work with clay. Maybe it has always been there, I've just never acted on it, until a few weeks ago. I thought it would be fun to have a physical farting smiley icon from FartDump.com. Clay seemed to be the most fun way to achieve that. Since I don't have a single artistic bone in my body, air-dry clay seemed to be the best way to dive in.
It honestly came out better than I thought it would for my first try. The end result is bad enough that I will surely take a second stab at it though.
Before I could even finish Mr. Farty I started playing around with a second, much smaller, character. I call him Glop. He will probably end up being a character in my next game on FartDump.
Before I even finished painting Glop, I started drawing him on the computer. I did this at first to test out some color schemes. The drawing came out better than the clay figure.
I still need to clean up some of the shading that overlapped onto the black outline, but it is mostly finished. Glop will be a fun addition to FartDump some day.
FartDump has been slowly amassing a crew of characters that started out as simple cartoony icons for the games. They are now starting to be used in the comics. I'm not sure what FartDump will end up being, as I want it to happen organically, but I seem to be leaning into the cartoon realm. I have a dark sense of humor so I'm not sure how well that is going to land, but pissing people off is another hobby of mine, so it should be fun for me.
