Ramen Fires, Farming Fantasies, and SEO Near Misses

Ramen Fires, Farming Fantasies, and SEO Near Misses

Rude Awakening

My girlfriend got home from work at 1:30 am this morning and decided to make a ramen noodle soup bowl. You know, the kind where you add the flavor packet and water, then microwave it for a few minutes. Well, instead of nuking it in the microwave, she decided to boil some water in a pot on the stove for the noodles and somehow managed to set off the smoke detectors in the apartment—cooking… water. That was a fun wake-up call.

After finally cooking the noodles, she decided they were way too spicy—so, naturally, she made me eat them. An early wake-up call and breakfast? How sweet of her, lol.

FS25 Is Almost Ready

In other news, I’ve been keeping a close eye on Farming Simulator 25 mods, and the list is nearly complete. The two big mods I’ve been waiting for—Courseplay and Autodrive—both dropped this week. I’m super excited about that. There are only two mods left on my checklist: TMR production silos and the Lizard Colossus Harvesters. The silos aren’t necessarily deal breakers, but I really want the harvesters before taking the plunge.

I would have already bought the game, but it’s $50—a little steep for a game that wouldn’t be as fun as Farming Simulator 22 and likely more buggy. It might very well be worth the price, but from what I can tell, while the graphics are better and there are a few new mechanics, the gameplay doesn’t seem that much different. So for now, I think I’ll just stick with FS22.

Don't Touch The SEO!

I almost made a huge mistake last night with the website. I currently have four blog categories: Rants, Random, Website, and Short Stories. I’ve been itching to change them up and almost pulled the trigger. When I set those categories up last year, they felt broad enough to capture most of my posts without needing 20 different categories. But now, they’ve been bugging me.

I have two other websites that could host any short stories I write, so they don’t really need to be on Wisedocks. I’ve been thinking about aligning this blog more with personal posts about daily life, with categories like:

  • Rants for when I need to vent.
  • Life for daily takes on whatever I’ve been up to.
  • Web Development for anything related to the CMS development and styling of my websites.

I even changed the Random category to Life and started rearranging posts to match the new structure—then quickly reversed everything.

Messed-up URLs have been kicking my butt since August, and I’m just starting to recover from that mistake this week. Why in the hell would I risk creating another mess? I’ve been focusing more on website-related posts these last few months, so I started thinking about aligning the blog as more of a web dev blog. Having short stories here clashes with that idea, especially since they’d fit better on my other sites. But I know me—next week, I’ll change my mind again and want to keep the short stories here. So, I’ve decided to just go with the flow and only make major changes when they make absolute sense to me. If I’m not 100% sure, I need to learn to sit on the idea for a while.

This blog is more of a personal journal than anything informational or educational. Sure, I focus on SEO on Wisedocks, but not in the writing itself. I don’t stress about keywords to get posts indexed or meeting user needs. This is just my personal corner of the internet where I talk about myself and my hobbies. So, there’s no need to take the setup so seriously. Every time I try to laser-focus on one topic, I end up changing my mind a day later and feel unhappy with the site’s direction again.

Leave It Alone

Honestly, I’m pretty happy with the site right now. I like having the image galleries, quotes, and other miscellaneous things on the Side Projects page while keeping the blog as the main focus. This setup lets me focus on the blog while also having a home for all the random ideas I come up with. So, I’m leaving things alone for now.

Besides, I have way too much on my plate at the moment. Last week, I applied some techniques from Wisedocks to Stellar History, and now it’s loading three times faster. I still need to put in a ton of work on my brother’s website and tackle the massive to-do list for the Realtor site. That project could potentially turn into a viable business later on, so it’s a priority. Honestly, I probably have 20 projects currently in various stages of “started but not finished.”

Worrying about categories on Wisedocks needs to take a back seat for now.
